The behavIOHR Approach

Compensation and Benefits (aka Total Rewards) is one of the most powerful—and misunderstood—levers in business.  We make sense of Total Rewards.

Our goal is not help you control spending but optimize and align it through organizational and behaviorally scientific approaches that balance smart growth and compliant processes ensuring you keep talent and spend wise.

The result? Everyone Wins

With more than 25 years operating in over 70 countries we've developed a different and unique approach to total rewards.

An approach that works, because we see total rewards differently.

A Different Approach

Human behavior is complex and irrational--but it is also predictable. Most Compensation & Benefits advisors operate based on market and economic factors, viewing compensation as transactional. While effective, such programs eventually result in a 'spend' vs. 'don't spend' approach to plan design.

The behavIOHR approach incorporates principles of psychology and economic behavior, along with more than two and a half decades of global Total Rewards experience into plan design, advice, and support. Pairing reinforcement of behaviors with your organization's objective creates a win-win situation; you save money and ensure proper governance while employees don't just get paid--they receive value.

Our view and approach moves beyond ensuring best practices, market competitiveness, corporate governance by verifying your programs do what you think they do. We ensure you are spending the right amount, the right way AND that your employees know what is expected of them and how they will benefit from it.

How Can behavIOHR help you?

  • Are you getting the right return on your Total Rewards investment?

  • Are you confident you are paying the right people, the right amount, for the right reasons?

  • Are you keeping the people you intended to keep?

  • Are your incentives changing behavior, not just distributing money?

  • Can employees and managers explain how pay decisions are made?

  • Does your employee experience match the value proposition you claim to offer?

  • Can your current rewards infrastructure support the company you are becoming?

  • Are your rewards aligned to the culture, performance, and business outcomes you want?

If you answered “No” to any of these questions behavIOHR can help you.

Glen Lerner, Managing Director

Educated in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Valdosta State University, Glen has spent more than 25 years incorporating psychology, sociology, and behavioral science into Total Rewards strategy while partnering with executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.

His approach to Grow Smart, Spend Wise, Lead Clean, Keep Talent, and ultimately Win Together helps organizations align rewards with the human behaviors that drive performance, engagement, retention, and long-term growth.

While intuitive in concept, the deliberate application of I/O Psychology within compensation and benefits remains relatively uncommon. Traditional compensation models often focus primarily on market pricing, administration, compliance, and transactional processes. Glen’s approach expands beyond those mechanics by intentionally incorporating behavioral reinforcement, organizational dynamics, communication, and employee motivation into rewards design.

By identifying the behaviors organizations want to encourage — and aligning rewards structures to reinforce those outcomes — Glen helps companies build scalable, sustainable, and strategically aligned human capital systems.

Known for his pragmatic and analytical style, Glen helps leaders make sense of compensation and benefits in human terms. Where finance may see only red and black, Glen sees human behavior in full color. This perspective has made him particularly effective in guiding the “takeoffs and landings” of small- to mid-sized organizations building the infrastructure, governance, and reward systems necessary to support future growth.
